I feel inspired to write again.

Life's had it's ups and downs the past few months since my last entry. Slowly recovering from a burn out, realizing it's almost my birthday..

Yeah my birthday. Turning 25 next Tuesday. A quarter century old. Funny... Feels like I been around forever. Just like my constant hint dropping to buy some stuff from my Amazon wishlist and that I would very much like a cake like the one's you see on Discovery's Cake Boss. Stupid addictive programming.. Always showing the good stuff right before they scare the shit out of you with that program about midgets. Fraggin Midgets. Thank God for reruns of Magnum PI.. Bless you Tom Selleck with your manly moustache made of pure and epic win.

But I'm getting off topic, hard thing to do considering there is no topic to begin with.

Other upcoming stuff then.. Well I'm holding my 2nd movie marathon soon.. See how much bad movie me and my friends can take, making the most out of it by riffing.. but it's gonna be fun to see who breaks first. Even got a new supply of Reb Brown schlock for the occasion. You wouldn't believe what I had to go through to get it. EEP!

Then there's my various other addictions like Transformers, pre-ordered the latest cool new stuff.. hoping to get that soon and awaiting my awesome Monkey Island tankard which I ordered from Telltale when I saw it on the site (along with the new Sam and Max season).

Speaking of Transformers and related material; Why is it that TNT Post seem adamant along with customs to make me pay through the nose with extra costs they slap on at random. I swear.. $100 dollar exclusive transformer.. $50 protected shipping.. Hey let's ram this geek's toy up his ass and charge him an additional €40 bucks for importing it. Thanks Dutch customs. Thanks. Stay classy.

So that leaves me with a peculiar problem. I have no idea what to ask for my birthday. I saw Dweezil Zappa in De Melkweg here in Amsterdam last week with 2 of my friends so that idea of getting the gig for my birthday is out the window.

And you know what else? I got a promotion at work. Dunno how.. I didn't think it was possible being the burnt out wreck that I am right now, getting a better position but I did so that makes me slightly awesome.. right?

All kidding aside, as good am I am doing on a professional level.. the piss-poorer I'm doing in my spare time. I got asked if I had plans for my vacation. I don't apart from going to the zoo like I do every year, whooptifuckindo...

I suppose I am to blame for some of my own problems.. I'm just trying to do things the best I can.. And I seriously regret some stuff today.

Ooh I finally have something to blog out about again.. Speaking of blogging, ever noticed that if you've seen too much Simpsons and you say blog.. you hear Comic Book Guy? Weird.. Same with Prof. Farnsworth in Futurama if I say "Good News Everyone!"

I'm losing my train of thought here, let's get back on my approximation of a subject, since last post things have been up, things have been down, things have been out and times mostly have been good to me.

Currently I'm working on something of a dream project of mine. My friend Willem gave me an army of his I wanted since I first seen them. Praetorians! Everyone's most cherished IG style choice, but oh so limited. I wish I jumped on the train in '07 as GW decided to ditch them..

So here I am, with less than a platoon of actual Praetorians and having to convert everything from Mordians otherwise, murder on my hands really all those metal shavings and greenstuff patches but it's so gonna be worth it because who doesn't want an Imperial Guard army based on Zulu-Saxon Wars English.. Pith helmets, bright uniforms, moustaches. Manly men. I really wonder why the hell GW ever decided to drop them. What's not to like?

Hrm...

Mike from KOtoys has disappeared off the face of the planet, but it's cool. I did some checking and it's something that happens with him every now and then. No worries there.

Okay on with the topic at hand;

Rock Band: Beatles - Awesome graphical and I dig the tunes a lot.. but it's not fun to play. I find myself bored a lot. The unlockable video and photo content is a nice touch though.

Speaking of the Beatles. I'm seeing the Bootleg Beatles again in October. Bringing two of my friends and my mom this time. Should be interesting.

I'm also keeping my eye of Paul McCartney. I want to see him live.

G3 trailer! WHAMMO! Awesome! I applied stickers. Go me. Yay! ^_^
It's made of win. Roller is made of win. The extra weapons are made of win. The pegs that hold the weapons... MADE OF COMPLETE AND UTTER FAIL!
I had to glue 4 of them because the plastic sucked. I really don't get that, as FP has epic quality control but for some reason.. the pegs suck.
I'm also not a fan of the weapon frames so I put them back in the box. It could perhaps be a flaw.. like with the Gears of War set.
Stuff was designed well but didn't take the chroming into account. Who knows? But Prime is whole again. And all is well. Prime died for our sins but came back every time, so we gave him a sweet trailer to pull. Hallelujah!

On the flipside of things.. ZOMGWTFBBQ! BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM IS AWESOMESAUCE!
No I'm not overreacting. I love this game. It's fun, it's challenging. It's pretty to look at, plays well and it's creepy at times (I particularly love the Scarecrow bits)
So do yourself and your mom a favor, get this game. Now. Stop reading and get it. Seriously. Log off and buy the game.

Finished season 2 of Sam & Max. Gawd, It was AWESOME!!!™

Got Season 1 in the mail today, that's the copy for my friend Ogre. Now we wait for my most epic package.. and I'm not talking about my junk. I'm referring to my Season 1/2 and signed Hit The Road hardcover book combo thingy to arrive.

Oh and finally; My vacation plans.. are foiled. For the 2nd time. It's *hack*bullshitreasons*cough* beyond my control.

Guess I'll clean my room or something. Hell the dirty laundry isn't even that vile yet, it's not even crawling to the laundry basket on its own.. *Le sigh*

So it's time for another long post I hope, just reflecting how things are now in Fransland...

I finished Sam and Max: Save the World (Also known as Season 1) and was overall extremely satisfied with the game. The individual episodes has a few weak spots here and there. But as a full story.. DAYUM! So looking forward to playing Season 2 (Also known as Beyond Time And Space) soon.. since I got my annual vacation coming up.

Hope I'll have a good time outside of Season 2. Seems a bit shaky at this time but that's too personal to discuss on a public blog like this.

Soundblaster.. ah yes. He's staring at the monitor in disbelieve that I haven't reviewed him. Well.. I could but I'd rather do it justice with proper pictures rather than shots from my phone. So I hope my sister doesn't lose my camera.. or I need to whip my pimp hand out and beat her back into the kitchen for it.

So.. Uh.. what now to randomly type about? Guess I could divulge in my vacation plans a bit.. Only 2 days (at the time of writing this) days of work left. That's good. I love my job and my co-workers but I don't need to see them for a little while. I'll do me good. I'm sure of it.
Anyway, before I get sidetracked.. I hope to hang out in the UK a bit, be all awesome and foreign. Nerd out at either a Games Workshop or at a Forbidden Planet because that shit's so cash.. and hang out and be retarded as ever, like I always am back home. Made of win anyway. In fact it's made of so much win.. I've ordered the Surfin' The Highway set, which includes the signed hardcover version of Surfin' The Highway and both seasons on disc.

But what's that you ask? Frans didn't you already BUY season one?

Yes I did. But lady luck smiled upon me as I found out my buddy Ogre is not only as big a Monkey Island fan as I am but also a huge Sam and Max fan.. so he's getting one of my season 1 discs. I'm a good friend. Name a holiday after me or something. Do it now!

Finally got my AVGN shirt here. The one shown in the picture above actually. Didn't expect it before next week.. so good timing Screwattack :-)

The shirt itself, being awesome of course, feels high quality, the prints on it feel heavy duty. All in all.. this shirt feels like it'll last.

I've quickly worn it already, being of the more to love variation type of body I was happy to find this shirt doesn't feel heavy when worn, it's wide enough to successfully mask this godlike body (modeled after Buddha of course) and lenghty enough for my 6'2" height.

I'll definately buy another shirt once more designs (that I like) will be available.

My Name Is Bruce

Okay, I lied!

I couldn't keep this out of my DVD drive any longer. I had to watch my newest Bruce Campbell movie. I know, I know. I'm seeking help for my addiction. I'm sorry I let you down...

But was I glad I did.

BC stars in this self parody of his life, as a mostly strung out B-movie actor, basically living on glory of days gone past, horrible sequel movies, alcohol and harassing his soon to be ex-wife.

Meanwhile in the quaint little town of Gold Lick (That sounds like some kind of sleazy cheapo liquor brand) some retarded metalheads unleash an ancient pissed off Chinese god of war (and also bean cur for some reason), and of course people have to pay for this.. with decapitation! SCHWING!!!!

Their halfassed idea of fixing their mistake: Get Uncle Sam's favourite son to sort your mess out. Now there's a plan made of win and awesome, right?
So insert kidnapping here and Bruce finds himself in that little pisshole, believing this is all a movie set up and swaggers his way through it, like his self-based character did his last few movies.

Bruce finds out the demon is real and bails like a punk, leaving the town to fend for itself. Eventually he grows a pair and goes back to stick to his promise to bail everyone out. Cue non surprising ending but with fun twist. The End

So yeah, what can I say? It's Bruce Campbell. It entertained me a lot. Lots of references to his older works. Jake from ED2 and the Blacksmith from Army of Darkness have minor roles in it. I'd say.. buy it if you like Bruce, otherwise it's a very solid rent.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special: Episode II

Oh yeah, I watched them both as a double feature. the second episode is the winner of the two really, it features an extended version. it's chock-full of behind the scenes material, promos, etc. It also comes with 2 extra unrelated Robot Chicken episodes.

This DVD had me entertained from the start. It's funnier, focussing more on the Star Wars fan and it's pet peeves. All the jokes work and it's as far as I know, all fresh material.

A personal highlight for me was the My Little Tauntaun skit. That had me up in stitches.

So do yourself a favour, if you liked the first one. Get this one. You want a less serious take on Star Wars? Get this. You like parody? Get this.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special 1

First of my reviews:

Visually interesting. Nice twist on the classic Star Wars imagery with a Robot Chicken touch. Classy fo real. Disc looks kick ass too. Has a nice Deathstar print on it. That's awesome.

The DVD itself is a bit sparse. It has the main feature, which is a bit of the short side, mostly recycled from the show itself, with a few new skits here and there. Behind the scenes stuff. Extra episodes come in the form of a Robot Chicken episode, a Harvey Birdman one (Never seen it before so it was a new experience for me) and a Frisky Dingo one. I have to be honest and say I never bothered with it because the name didn't appeal to me.

All in all for the 10 bucks I paid for it, it's very good value and I like Robot Chicken. I love it's absurdity.

Oh snap! What's that you say? You remember Monkey Island? That kick ass pirate spoof game with that eternally lame 4th game?

I really want to review it, I really do.. but I'm afraid in my enthusiasm over this franchise, which was there throughout my childhood, I'll give most of the plot away

Hey,

Even though nobody will probably read this I thought I'd hook you guys up with a new special blog type thingy! Now I never was a fan of it but lately I've felt compelled to do something.. So here it goes!

Life's been decent, regular ups and downs, nothing too dramatic.

More or less lost interest in wargaming at this current time in my life. I'm sure it'll return eventually. Maybe the Space Hulk re-release will help? Who knows?

Meanwhile Transformers still hold a good place in my life.

So I got a new cellphone. Guess which one? The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic! Same one as Batman used in Hong Kong. I'm totally hardcore now, for real. No seriously. I am. Really. Ask anyone.

But as anyone knows.. a new phone is a commitment. It means your old phone has to be sent to the pits of hell... Or at least beat the shit out of it with..

C) A utility knife
D) gravity
E) All of the above

If you've guessed E, you're absolutely correct! It's become a time honoured tradition amongst my friends to destroy and obliterate the machinery that causes you grief, often with humorous result. Meaning everyone wins in the end.

There's also been some change in my life. I've got a credit card now. BWAHAHAHA I can buy the world! No seriously, I think you can actually buy some place like Cambodia for 20 bucks.. 15 if you pay with credit card.. Whom I kidding. I'm no Billy Mays. Least I tried.

At any rate. I endulged myself a little. I bought a AVGN shirt (Love your show James!), donated some cash to him as well.

Went over to my friends at TellTaleGames.. Love their site. Bought the full Tales of Monkey Island and a signed Sam and Max poster by Steve Purcell (Hope it's actually signed and not a print, but we'll find out eventually).

So did I mention how much I LOVE TellTale? These guys are doing a kick ass job at reviving my childhood.. Sam and Max, Monkey Island. If they do Full Throttle or Loom.. I'm gonna just send in my paycheck by default to them. Keep up the awesomeness dudes!

Speaking of purchases. My G3 trailer by the glorious awesomness that is FansProjects is soon to be in stock and delivered to me. These guys are the pinacle of adult collecting transformers wise. They can count on the Protector armour being (pre) ordered in a whim. I love their stuff. Hope they still make their "Defender", "Collector" and "Warbot". I'd buy it.

Got some cool stuff incoming. Yessir. My Name Is Bruce and both Robot Chicken Star Wars specials through Amazon. Bruce Campbell is my all-time hero. The best kept secret of Hollywood I tell you. Oh and Seth Green's not bad with Robot Chicken ;-)

While we're on the subject. Why is it so goddamn hard to get the Adult Swim stuff if you're in a country like.. Oh I don't know.. THE NETHERLANDS?! I practically had to sell my soul for S1 of both the Venture Bros and Robot Chicken. Amazon is going to love me long time.. I know we'll build a good relationship. Yesssssssss

Oh and I bought a Soundblaster (That's the black Soundwave) Music Label device. I need Soundblaster for those awkward holding hands moments with my Henkei Galvatron. It's my dirty little secret...

Internet wise.. I've been on TGWTG a lot. Doug is hilarious. I'll probably donate a wad of cash his way. That man makes me laugh because I know exactly what he's talking about. I could've made millions if I thought of the concept before he did. Drats! Currently watching those "Let's Play" sections. Linkara makes me laugh with his playthrough of Star Trek: Elite Force (I'm ENSIGN MUNRO!) and Spoony with his hilarious comments throughout both SWAT 4 and Phantasmagoria (Full game I think is available for viewing through his own personal website).

I've also become addicted to Meth.. errr.. I mean Mafia Wars on MySpace. Bad addictive game ruining what little social life I had..

Lastly, I'm sure everyone has heard at one time or another about these Russian scammers, who try to lure your money away from you by distracting you with "beautiful women completely out of your league that send you love letters day in day out" I'm having a ball with that. Hell, I write the most obscene, disturbing shit at these people and every day I get more loveletters with pictures. Oh Internet.. Bringing the Lulz since the 1960's (At least that's what Wikipedia claims)
